Small Kiwi company wins international design award.

Supply, a New Zealand based design studio, was last week presented with an
elite Dieline Award for its work on the packaging of Nelson-made Rochdale
Cider.

The Dieline Awards, a highly prestigious worldwide package design
competition, are devoted exclusively to the art of brand packaging.

Every year, over 900 entries from top companies around the world compete
for this coveted award. With entrants from top dogs such as Heineken and
Miller, itʼs safe to say that the Dielines make for fierce competition.

The only company in the Southern Hemisphere to receive a Dieline Award in
2011, Supplyʼs Managing Director, Craig McColl, is (unsurprisingly) thrilled.

“Our ultimate goal is not to win awards; itʼs to achieve the best effects for our
clients,” says McColl.

“The standards at the Dielines are extremely high – we were up against big
corporate giants from all over the world! Receiving this award demonstrates
that we have produced some amazing results for our client – thatʼs what really
makes us proud.”

Supply received a third place accolade for its design of the packaging for
Rochdale Cider – a family-owned Kiwi brand that dates back to the 1940s.

Produced by the McCashin family in a local orchard and brewery in Nelson,
the Rochdale packaging needed to represent this history and tradition, while
looking fresh and new within the growing cider market.

With this brief in mind, Supply produced a ʻretro cheekʼ look that captures a
classic ʻbrown paperʼ heritage feel, with a cheeky modern twist.

The result is a range of nostalgic, feel-good bottles and boxes that feature
antiqued paper and a red apple fruit stamp – reminiscent of those that many
of us may have created as kids.

Unfortunately, the top team at Supply was too busy marking other Kiwi brands with their special touch of magic, and couldnʼt make it to the Dieline Awards in
Chicago last week.

However, little doubt remains that we will be hearing big things about this little
company in the very near future.
