Halobiz.co.nz – the “search here first – let your heart do the talking “ website went live on the first of July in the central Waikato and launched with its search to give away $500 to two lucky Waikato community organisations.

The HaloBiz Network has been purposefully designed to make it easy for kiwis to find local businesses that support local community organisations.   It achieves this by detailing which charities or community organisations each business supports in the search results.

HaloBiz is the only commercial business directory that makes an ongoing and regular financial contribution at such a local community level.  It returns at least 70% of its advertising fees to each advertiser’s nominated community organisation(s), and all community organisations can receive up to a maximum of 80%.

“Being described by one of our Charity Network Members as the hottest online business directory with a difference” is a real buzz says General Manager, Julie South.

Five Waikato Charities are currently entered in the Favourite Waikato Charity Competition.  Any registered charitable trust with a branch in Hamilton, Cambridge or Te Awamutu and is a member of the Halo™Biz Network is eligible to participate in the competition; voting is public, online and nationwide.  Entries are open right up until the last minute (the competition closes on 14 August 2011).

Plunket Waikato was the last charity to enter the competition and soon claimed first place, with the Salvation Army (Midland Region) and the Waikato SPCA almost neck-to-neck in second and third places, with Waikato Society of Arts and Brick for Life fourth-equal.  But like South says "it's still early days yet"
