Wanaka residents were reminded to attend a public workshop tomorrow (Wednesday) evening to discuss facilities for the Wanaka Sports Facility site, Queenstown Lakes District Council project manager Ken Gousmett said.

An intensive consultation process was underway this week in Wanaka with conversations being had with numerous user groups.

“We have a site (Three Parks) and the consultation we are engaged in now will tell us what is needed on that site,” Mr Gousmett said.

The consultation included a questionnaire, which could be undertaken online at www.qldc.govt or by visiting the Council office on Ardmore Street or the Wanaka Library.

The first phase of consultation would be completed next week and the Council intended to feedback the outcome of that process.

“Once we have that clear picture we can move on to develop the proposed facilities concept design site plan, which will take us into the second round of consultation in October,” Mr Gousmett said.

Tomorrow night’s workshop would take place at 7.30pm at the Armstrong Room, Lake Wanaka Centre.

“We would really encourage the community to come along and have a say,” Mr Gousmett said.

Ultimately the consultation was timed to ensure the project was fully funded in the 2012 10- Year-Plan.
