Whangarei roads almost back to normal

Whangarei’s roads have almost returned to normal following heavy rain on Friday afternoon, July 22.

The unexpectedly heavy downpour resulted in isolated flash flooding and the popping of several stormwater man hole covers.

“All the region’s roads are now passable and there has been no significant damage,” said Jeff Devine, Whangarei District Council Roading Manager.

Potholes have appeared in some of the District’s roads that experienced large amounts of fast moving water.

“These will be attended to as soon as possible,” Mr Devine said.
