Well-known journalist and ONE News anchor Simon Dallow has been honoured by Variety – The Children’s Charity with a Presidential Citation from the President of Variety International.

Since 1989 Variety has given more than $12 million to help sick, disabled and disadvantaged children in New Zealand and this prestigious acknowledgement is awarded to Simon for demonstrating the utmost commitment and dedication to fulfilling the mission of Variety in New Zealand.

“Simon has been involved with Variety for more than 18 years,” says Lorraine Taylor, CEO, Variety – The Children’s Charity. “He joined the Board in 1998 before being elected as President from 2000 – 2002 and continued to serve on the Board until 2005, as well as filling the role of Acting CEO for a time. Simon is always willing to volunteer his time to help New Zealand children reach their full potential. He MCs functions, takes part in events like the Variety Bash and Solid Gold Radiothon, represented Variety at last year’s NZ Variety Show and helps to spread the word about the work that Variety does to create brighter futures for Kiwi kids.

“We are thrilled to be able to formally acknowledge Simon’s tremendous contribution to Variety – The Children’s Charity with this Presidential Citation.”

“I am pleased, privileged and humbled to receive this award,” says Simon. “In the same way that it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a very special group of people to keep a charity going and each of them has been an inspiration to me over the years.

“Variety – The Children’s Charity and I share the same ethos around helping children and young people to reach their full potential. It’s the real and tangible difference that Variety makes to these young New Zealanders that keeps me going and I hope that I can motivate others to get involved with this inspirational charity.”
