On Friday the 29th July during the evening, a Controlled Purchase Operation (CPO) was completed in the Ashburton area, targeting On License Premises.
Eleven premises in total were visited, with no sales made.
Senior Sergeant RUSSELL, Ashburton Police said the results were very encouraging, it shows that the Premises have good procedures and policies in place, along with reliable staff ensuring that these are followed.
With this operation, the volunteers enters the bar area and attempts to purchase alcohol. The volunteers are always under eighteen years of age.
Each premise would receive a letter advising them of the good result.
The Operation is run in conjunction with the Licensing Inspector (ADC), Public Health (ACADS) and Police.
The Premises concerned should be proud of themselves; we consider this to be a great result.
Should there be any further enquires please contact S/Sgt Russell, Ashburton Police.
