Strong international field at Treble Cone FIS Races

Racers from Korea, USA, Japan, UK, Switzerland and New Zealand raced against each other in Slalom and Giant Slalom over two days of FIS (Federation International Ski) racing at Treble Cone over the weekend.
Two impressive runs in (1,23,94) saw Woo-Sung Kim (KOR) take out first place in the Slalom with Dylan Brooks (USA) and Erik Arvidsson (USA) a very close second (1,26,31) and third (1,26,79). An equally strong woman’s field saw Avril Dunleavy (USA) claim first (1,32, 92), Harriet Miller-Brown (NZL) second (1,32,94) and Katie Fitzpatrick (USA) third (1,35,31).
In the Giant Slalom, Adam Barwood (NZL) claimed the men’s title with two speedy performances in (1,40,57). Just fractions behind, Woo-Sung Kim (KOR) took out second place (1,40,80) and Min-Sung Kim (KOR) finished third (1,41,30). In the woman’s field Katie Fitzpatrick (USA) claimed her second podium place finishing first (1,45,36) with Harriet Miller-Brown (NZL) second (1,45,97) and Sun-Joo Kim (KOR) taking third (1,46,34). Harriet Miller-Brown and Woo-Sung Kim took the overall male and female titles demonstrating speed and skill over the two day period.
“It’s always very exciting to host the first official event of the season and with over ten nations taking part it was an excellent three days of racing. Half of the podium places went to athletes from the Treble Cone Race Academy highlighting its strength as an international academy for athletes from around the globe,” said Guenther Birgmann, Treble Cone Race Academy Director.
The FIS Race starts provide registered athletes an opportunity to lower their FIS points and improve their world rankings.
