HAWKE'S BAY

Everyone has their favourite picnic spot, walking track or swimming hole and now they’ve been given the chance to share those secrets and win as the hunt gets underway for in-SITEs into Hawke’s Bay’s hidden gems.

Napier i-SITE Visitor Centre would like to discover all the special places and experiences that make people’s visits to Hawke’s Bay memorable and has launched an “in-SITE” competition to UNCOVER THEM ALL.

Napier i-SITE Manager, Carolyn Neville, says local knowledge makes a holiday so much more memorable and personal. She says while the Napier i-SITE team has lots of tips and in-SITEs to pass on to locals and visitors, they know there are so many more uncovered secrets and must-do experiences out there.

“We're local travel experts but we need the assistance of locals and visitors in discovering more hidden gems through sharing their experiences. We're keen to see Hawke's Bay through the eyes of our locals and visitors and unearth the wide range of amazing things to do in the region from the traditional to the unexpected. It’s the little details that make all the difference,” says Carolyn.

She says sharing the region’s in-SITEs is at the heart of their business and by adding to their repertoire they’ll have an even stronger offering to encourage visitors to stay longer in Hawke’s Bay and experience much more.

“We’re all about inspiring people to make their stay in Hawke’s Bay a lifelong memory; connecting one visitor at a time with our landscape, people and stories.”

While Hawke’s Bay has obvious attractions such as its stunning Art Deco architecture, Cape Kidnappers and fabulous wineries, Carolyn says it’s all about seeing the region through visitors’ eyes.

“It’s getting that little nugget of information or tip off about a unique wine tasting experience, the out of the ordinary features of a trip to the gannets or a distinctive Art Deco feature. “

It’s also the lesser known hidden gems and local secrets they hope to get some in-SITE into.

“It could be something as simple as a quirky rest area to stop for a cup of tea, or a refreshing outdoor walk or bike trail, or a stunning viewscape for a photo that someone’s discovered - they’re all useful and help others have extraordinary Hawke’s Bay adventures.”

Carolyn says there are so many little gems just waiting to be unearthed.

“For example Pania of the Reef on Napier’s Marine Parade is very well known, but few people are aware that Pania is rumoured to have enchanting qualities for those looking for love!”

Both locals and visitors to the Bay are being encouraged to send their “in-SITEs” and photos into the Napier i-SITE website. Check out the terms and conditions for more details.

The in-SITE Competition kicks off in the Napier Life magazine and is open from 20 August 2011 and throughout summer until 31 March 2012. The winner will enjoy an amazing holiday for two to Napier and the wider region, with a jam-packed four days of fun and thrills. And, if the winner is a local they can choose to take up the prize themselves or gift it to family or friends.
