Argentina have called Genaro Fessia into their Rugby World Cup 2011 squad to replace injured flanker Alvaro Galindo.

Galindo, who plays for Racing Metro in Paris, is out because of a thigh injury. He missed the warm-up matches against Wales and Worcester Warriors in the Pumas' recent European tour.

Fessia initially missed the final cut when Argentina coach Santiago Phelan named his squad for New Zealand.

The back row's inclusion represents a happy turnaround after he narrowly missed out on the Argentina squad for RWC 2007, when the Pumas finished third.

Fessia played for Pampas XV, the Argentine invitational side that won the developmental club competition in South Africa this year.

He also had a spell with Sale Sharks in England and has recently been on trial with London Wasps.

The Argentina squad will be flying to New Zealand on Wednesday and open their RWC campaign against England in Pool B on 10 September in Dunedin.
