Fatal Crash near Rotorua

One man is dead, following a 2 car crash on Te Ngae Road ( State Highway 30 ) just south of the Rotorua Airport.

The crash, which happened at about 4.35pm this afternoon, involved a south bound vehicle colliding with another car that had been pulling out from a side road, into the path of the first car.

Each vehicle had a single occupant in them, and the driver of the car that pulled into the path of the other, died from his injuries at the scene.

The other driver was uninjured.

The police Serious Crash Unit attended the scene and the circumstances of the crash are being investigated. It is too soon to determine whether alcohol was a factor in the matter.

The dead mans name will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
