AUCKLAND

It’s taking 365 days to plan, and five weeks working round the clock to construct but the biggest Home Show in Australasia is completed and ready to open its doors today for five huge days at the ASB Showgrounds.

Over 500 exhibitors are displaying everything new and improved in renovation ideas and solutions, home decoration and design, green urban living and sustainability. Homeware, cookware, building products, landscaping equipment and concepts, cooking demonstrations and more are all available at this year’s Auckland Home Show.

With a rise in numbers of people deciding to stay put and renovate rather than relocate, New Zealanders are looking to re-invest in their homes, to modernise, add value and tackle the sometimes confusing and stressful undertaking. The Auckland Home Show is the quintessential one stop shop for information for all renovation, decoration and new home build products and expert advice.

Exhibition Director Amanda Magnus says “The Home Show is a credit to New Zealanders and their love of their homes; every year we rejuvenate our features and seminars to reflect what the current trends and economy prescribe.”

Exhibitions of note in 2011 include the Street of Houses landscaped by Floradell, a fully interactive street in which a construction team have been positioning pre-fabricated to scale houses and landscaping since the end of July! Nowhere else in the Southern Hemisphere can you view a feature of this magnitude.
Design, Renovate, Decorate Seminars are taking place in Hall 2. Proudly sponsored by Resene, these daily seminars are hosted by award winning experts in the fields of design, building and renovating and are free to attend for show goers.

The inaugural Smeg Cooking Theatre in Hall 4 is a major attraction that offers Italian Cooking style on gorgeously designed Italian appliances. For foodies, the Fisher & Paykel YUM kitchen in Hall 3 is serving up some of the country’s top cooking talent including Masterchef winner Nadia Lim and Clooney Head chef Des Harris in a decadent dining experience.

Green Urban Living Seminars and exhibitors in Hall 5 offer all that’s self-sustainable and eco-friendly in the home, including helpful tips and advice including the information needed to start up your own beehive or backyard chicken tractor!

Auckland Landscape Supplies brings the idyllic, lush Walk of Gardens to the Home Show, with the Designer Living Pavilion both residing indoors in Hall 8. And if you need to rest your weary legs, the Foreno On-Tap Bar is waiting in Hall 4 nestled amongst the extensive Kitchen & Bathroom Feature Areas.
The Auckland Home Show 2011 is an event not to be missed for anyone looking to renovate, improve their homes both inside and out, get up to speed with all things green and be inspired!
