Members of the media are invited to attend the Airport Welcome for the Scottish Rugby Team.

DATE: Wednesday, September 7, 2011

CEREMONY TIME: 7.25 pm to 7.45 pm

VENUE: Invercargill Airport

Members of the media are advised to be inside the airport terminal by 6.45 pm at the latest because a crowd is expected and parking is limited. Journalists, photographers and camera crews will be shown to an area on the mezzanine floor to set up cameras etc. This area has been set aside because it offers the best view for media to take photographs and film the Airport Welcome.

The plane with the Scottish Team is scheduled to arrive at 7.25pm.

The Welcome Ceremony will include a traditional Maori challenge and welcome, followed by a response from the Scottish Team. The Mayor of Invercargill, Tim Shadbolt will present a key to the city, made from recycled Rimu which is a native New Zealand timber. The key was designed and crafted by the Invercargill City Council’s Building Regulation Manager Simon Tonkin, who is a member of the Southland Woodworkers Gu
