Taupo Police are continuing their search operation at Lake Arapuni today for two men who didn't return from a fishing trip on the weekend.

The Taupo Area Commander, Inspector Steve Bullock, says a 21 year old Tokoroa man and a 45 year old Putaruru man set off from Jones Landing on Sunday afternoon (28 August), but haven't been seen since.

He says the alarm was raised with Police on Wednesday afternoon (31 August) when a dog belonging to the Putaruru man returned to his house alone.

Inspector Bullock says Police will continue the search today with the Environment Waikato Harbour Master, but Police are still seeking any information from members of the public who may have seen the pair on the lake on Sunday.

"This is a large, 25 kilometre long piece of water and we need to try and narrow our search area. Any sightings of the pair will help us do that."

Inspector Bullock says Police are able to officially name one of the men as 21 year old Jordan Keith Pooley. He says Police are not able to release the name of the second man as Police are still trying to contact next of kin overseas.

A further media update will be provided this afternoon.
