Hearing impaired people in Australia and South East Asia are on their way to better hearing, thanks to an innovative, self-help touchscreen technology developed in New Zealand by an Auckland based company, Bay International.

The Bay Audio touchscreen has a similar interface to a smart phone or ipad and allows people to self-test their hearing and diagnose any potential hearing problems. Situated in Bay Audio stores, which are located in popular retail malls, the touchscreens are helping take the mystique and fear out of hearing impairment.

The Touchscreen was developed with the help of audiology advisers and lets customers self check their hearing health by following the instructions of a ‘virtual’ audiologist. The application also includes a hearing loss simulation that enables a client’s family to experience the customer’s hearing loss for themselves.

The results from the Touchscreen testing are then seamlessly integrated into Bay Audio’s CRM system for customer support. Professional audiologists and hearing staff then work with customers to identify the most appropriate solution for their hearing needs.
