South Africa second row Johann Muller has responded to a claim by Wales coach Warren Gatland that the Springboks "don't play rugby".

Speaking on Saturday about his Pool D opponents, New Zealander Gatland said South Africa will probably stick to the minimalist style that won them Rugby World Cup 2007.

Muller said: "Every guy has his opinion and we obviously don't share that view.

"We know what's coming and we know what we want to do. That's the only thing that matters to us."

South Africa begin their defence of the Webb Ellis Cup against Wales on 11 September in Wellington.

Muller, who weighs in at 106kg, was keen to warmly embrace almost anything involved in RWC 2011 when he spoke to the media in Wellington on Sunday.

"Seven weeks is obviously a long time away from home but that's something we embrace and something we're looking forward to," said the 31-year-old when asked how it felt to be at his second RWC.

And the prospect of facing Wales, Samoa, Fiji and Namibia in Pool D did not worry him.

"We've got probably the toughest group in this World Cup... we embrace that, we look forward to it."

Muller did concede it will not be an easy road. "I think this is going to be an unbelievable World Cup. There's probably five or six sides who can win it.

"The World Cup is a totally different tournament. It's a one-off thing. There's no second chances."
