New Zealand’s vanguards of dark instrumental rock, Kerretta, are set to release their second album Saansilo on September 19th. The album features the new alternative radio single ‘A Ways To Uprise’.

This blistering instrumental three-piece from the hinterlands of Auckland have been enchanting audiences with their rhythmic onslaught since 2006. Described variously as “lead-heavy” with “sparse and beautiful moments”, the trio have carved out a unique brand of dark rock that is scattered with melodic hooks.

The band’s first single ‘Death In The Future’ became one of the most-played tracks on New Zealand alternative radio in 2007. Following an Australian tour in early 2008 the band recorded a 4 track 12" entitled Antient with Dale Cotton in Port Chalmers and began supporting the likes of The Breeders and Trail Of Dead, as well as receiving invites to play respected festivals such as the Big Day Out.

In 2009 Kerretta released their debut album Vilayer through German label Golden Antenna (home to Maserati and Die! Die! Die!) and were finalists for the Taite Music Prize - New Zealand's equivalent to the Mercury Prize. They also landed a support slot for Japanese Post-Rock outfit Mono.

Kerretta have toured throughout North America, performing at SXSW in Texas and played alongside the likes of Poison Arrows (members of Dead Moon), Lullabye Arkestra and Narrows. Their highly anticipated new album Saansilo will be released digitally and on CD and LP on September 19th.
