"Hello? Palmerston North City Council Calling" - Survey seeks public feedback

As part of its on-going commitment to actively seek public opinion and involvement, the Palmerston North City Council is to conduct a survey of its residents.

“We want to see what people think of the Council’s services" says Head of Community Planning, Andrew Boyle. "The best way to do this is to interview a representative cross-section of people, and to have this done by an independent group to ensure impartiality”.

The survey results help Council prepare its plans and budgets. “We have done the survey in previous years, so we can also track changes in residents’ expectations of Council. This helps us develop better services” says Mr Boyle.

National Research Bureau (NRB), an independent research company offering specialised services to Local Authorities throughout New Zealand, has been commissioned to undertake the survey and report to the Council.

Using a randomised selection method, residents from throughout the City will be telephoned, and asked their opinions on the services the Council delivers to the residents of the City. The survey is totally confidential.

Interviewing for the survey commences on Friday 9th September, and is expected to be completed on Sunday 18th September.
