Scotland team visiting Christchurch

CHRISTCHURCH

The Scotland RWC team will visit Christchurch this Saturday 17 September, including SRU President and former Scotland and British Lions prop, Ian "Mighty Mouse" McLauchlan; head coach Andy Robinson OBE; attack coach Gregor Townsend MBE; captain Alastair Kellock, tight-head prop Euan Murray and Scottish Rugby’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs Dominic McKay.

Itinerary:

  • 10.05am arrival Christchurch Airport.
  • 11am The party will be welcomed by officials from Christchurch City Council at the Fanzone in North Hagley Park at approximately 11am (media opportunities available with members of the Scotland party and local representatives). At this point the Scotland party will hand over a cheque for NZ$85,000 (approximately £45,000 GB) for the Christchurch Earthquake Mayoral Relief Fund to Deputy Mayor Ngaire Button. There will also be a signing session for young players who are participating in the Junior Rugby tournament in the Fanzone's 'Stadium'.
  • 1.30-3pm The Scotland party will then visit the first Community Fanzone at Cowles Stadium, Cuthberts Green in Bromley for a skill session with local rugby players. Once again, media opportunities will be available during this period.
