EnviroArb takes pride in its backyard – and now the experienced tree company that also looks after other people’s trees and yards is providing a compost tea service.

EnviroArb Director and former executive member of the New Zealand Arboricultural Association Jon Redfern has two decades’ industry experience, comprising all aspects of the tree industry from care and maintenance to management and consultancy.

This extensive arboricultural industry experience and knowledge is combined with the Auckland based company’s strong environmental commitment – and, as part of this focus, EnviroArb offers one of the region’s only liquid compost treatments for trees in the form of compost tea.

“Our business is trees and the environment, and our choices and practices affect this – that’s why we use environmentally friendly practices, such as compost tea, and work hard to reduce our environmental footprint,” says Jon.

“Compost tea is a non chemical treatment that benefits soil, helps prevent disease and increases longevity, growth, density and colour of trees and gardens – most importantly it’s safe for children and animals.”

Best used through programmed applications, liquid compost is used by a number of horticulturists to create healthy trees that increase harvest. It also mitigates construction activities that may have negative effects on trees in the vicinity.

Jon says with upcoming seasonal and potential legislative changes now is the time to consider options around trees.

“With likely changes to the tree rules, many trees previously protected could be removed. The removal of trees can impact the environment so what we can do to offset the potential adverse impact on our environment is plant more trees now – it’s not too late to plant.”

He adds: “A Chinese proverb says it all - One generation plants a tree; the next sits in its shade.”

Trees provide numerous aesthetic, environmental and economic benefits, from enhancing a property and providing privacy and shade to reducing glare and emphasising views. They moderate the climate by improving air quality, conserving water and harbouring birds and wildlife – and of course they make life more pleasant.

EnviroArb offers a full range of arboricultural services, including all aspects of tree care and maintenance, yard maintenance and management, planting and transplanting, consultancy activities, such as arboricultural reports, and a compost tea service. The company is qualified, insured and uses safe, current industry standards and practices.

“We’re essentially a one-stop-shop for everything tree related,” says Jon. “We’re committed to providing exceptional environmentally focused tree care and management and outstanding customer service.”
