When Namibian wing Heine Bock takes to the field against South Africa at North Harbour Stadium on Thursday, he will be focused on the game but also thinking about his family at home.

“They will definitely be watching me play. They will be at home on the couch and shouting at the screen. I hope they don’t break the TV," he said.

Bock’s Rugby World Cup debut was in 2007, but the Pool D match against the Springboks will be his first time on the field for the 2011 tournament and it comes in what will probably be Namibia’s toughest game.

“I will be focusing on my game, but I still want to do my best for my family,'' said Bock.

"I’m nervous, but really excited. I’m going to do my basics and see how much further I can go. I also want to make my coach proud.”

As Namibia only gained its independence from South Africa in 1990, Namibia captain Jacques Burger believes there will be support from the opposition’s homeland.

“Everybody in Namibia has been so supportive. We know we are the underdogs, but we will get a lot of support. They are so proud of us. They are really backing us," Burger said.

“A lot of people in South Africa have a soft spot for Namibia and will get behind us.”
