Mayor attends launch of new Taupō based charter airline

Izardair, a new charter and scenic flights airline, has set up shop at Taupō Airport and promises a luxury charter service for its clients.

Izardair launched their new air charter service on Friday 9 September in front of a crowd of local business people and civic guests. The new airline operates from Hangar 8 at the Taupō Airport and will offer New Zealand’s newest luxury air charter service along with newly appointed Fixed Base Operation (FBO).

The FBO will offer those customers and crew of private charters secure and comfortable facilities along with all other private charter services. The FBO service is a first for the Great Lake Taupō region and one that both Richard Izard and his team are excited to introduce. Tour itineraries can be created specifically to suit the needs of individuals. Along with the late model aircrafts this service is a welcome addition to the plethora of services offered in this resort destination.

Mayor Rick Cooper attended the launch and spoke of the venture and the faith that Richard Izard has placed in the Taupō district. "Richard and Patience should be applauded by all for their enthusiasm and investment here in Taupō district and the business potential that his new venture brings to the region. They are lovely people and we are so lucky to have them within our community.”

Richard and Patience Izard, the people behind this brand are well known to the international business community and have invested in a number of New Zealand based businesses in the past 30 years.

Along with the charter air services Izardair will also offer scenic flight options. The Izard’s have purchased Taupō Air Services to deliver the tourist focused scenic flights. Taupō Air Services prior owner will stay on with the business to ensure the transition is smooth and well managed.
