BUSIT! to the next Rugby World Cup match

Free shuttle buses will again be operating for Hamilton’s final Rugby World Cup game at Waikato Stadium in just over a week.

Additional services will also operate on a number of Hamilton’s routes to help supporters get to the Wales v Fiji game on Sunday, 2 October.

Waikato Regional Council has been working closely with contractors Go Bus, as well as the Hamilton City Council, to deliver an efficient service for rugby supporters travelling to and from matches.

Regional council group transport manager Vaughan Payne said the free shuttle services from the fanzone in Hood Street to the stadium had already been popular with rugby revellers for the city’s first two RWC 2011 games.

“We had just over 3000 passengers boarding the shuttles to and from the New Zealand v Japan rugby game last Friday and similar numbers on Sunday for the Wales v Samoa match.

“Rugby supporters boarding our buses have been in good spirits and we’ve been able to ensure they’ve arrived in plenty of time for the games.

“We’re encouraging people intending on using public transport to get to the next match in just over a week to plan their trip using our online planner to ensure they arrive in plenty of time,” Mr Payne said.

The rugby shuttle travels along Anglesea, Knox, Victoria and Liverpool streets in a loop one hour before and one hour after each match, and approximately every 10 minutes.

Until Sunday, 23 October the Night Rider services will depart from Collingwood Street.
