Funding for creative applicants

MANAWATU-WHANGANUI

SEVEN organisations and individuals in the Manawatu District have received more than $12,000 in the Creative Communities Scheme’s second round of funding for 2011.

The scheme provides financial help to projects that stimulate local arts activity, both established and new, and encourages greater participation.

The successful applicants are:

Catherine McCall – for craft lessons for children and adults, $292.60.

Feilding and District Art Society Inc. for seventh annual art awards exhibition from April 29 to May 18 next year,  $2600 plus GST, and open day on January 21 next year, $780.00 plus GST.

Feilding Playcentre create mural within playcentre gates, $760 plus GST.

Feilding and Districts Historical Society for creation of “Kiwi Kids In2 History” series (four books), $1500.

Celtic Spirit– for Manawatu Tattoo 2012 on August 19, $5000.

Rangiwahia Environmental Arts Centre Trust Society Inc. – day and weekend courses during summer 2012, $415.82, and after-school art classes in term 1 2012, $245.

Rewa Community Arts Group – community arts event in February next year, $500.

Applications for funding for the next round will be in February 2012 and advertisements will appear on the “Bulletin” page later this year.
