State Highway Two, Taneatua Forest, Bay of Plenty

A slip has occurred on State Highway Two between Taneatua and Waimana, Bay of Plenty.

The slip is described as being in the middle of the Taneatua Forrest, approximately 2.5 kilometres north, towards Whakatäne, of Fraser Road.

Most of the road is blocked and a truck and trailer unit has already crashed into the slip.

The hill side is quite unstable with rocks and boulders still coming down.

No work will be done tonight on clearing the slip and an evaluation will be completed in daylight.

The only alternative route is using the coastal road through Whakatäne, Ohope and Wainui around Öhiwa Harbour.
