A trial run for the transport of a large oil and gas industry module through central New Plymouth will require a clearway on some streets this Monday (31 October).

From 7pm on Monday until 6am the next morning, cars will need to be removed from the roadside of the Paynters Avenue on and off ramps, Hobson Street from Northgate to Molesworth Street, and along 50m of Molesworth Street to the west of the Hobson Street intersection.

Any cars in these areas during this time will be towed at the owner’s expense by the contractors Multi-Trans Heavy Hauls.

“We don’t want that to happen so we’ve done a letter drop to residents and businesses in the area advising them to remove their cars from the roadside for this trial run,” says Manager Roading Assets Max Aves.

“There will be another clearway overnight on 8 November when the oil and gas module is transported from Waiwhakaiho to the port, and we’ll get information out to affected residents and businesses before then.”

Roadside trees on Northgate, outside New Plymouth Girls’ High School, are being pruned to make enough room for the vehicles before Monday’s trial run.
