Council's Annual Report now available

Taupō District Council’s 2010/11 Annual Report is now available and its balance sheet highlights stabilisation during a period of economic uncertainty.

The Annual Report is a key accountability document reporting Council’s performance over the year. It includes Council’s financial statements which show the financial results for the year and the financial position of Council at 30 June 2011. The report also includes a summary of Council’s performance in delivering the services and targets stated in its Long Term Plan.

Corporate and Infrastructure Group Manager, Alan Menhennet, said the 2010/11 Annual Report shows Council is in a strong financial position. “Despite slowed economic growth and decreased property investment due to a slumped market, we continue to deliver our promised levels of service to the community within the approved financial budget,” he said.

Although some revenue streams were not as substantial as forecast, including development contributions as a result of a struggling development and construction market, Council’s management significantly restructured its business to manage the downside of the lower growth over the past year. “We will need to continue to be nimble and mindful of our future expenditure for the long haul,” he said.
