All sport and general news media are invited to attend a briefing for the Barfoot & Thompson ITU Triathlon World Cup TODAY Monday 31st October for a full update on event planning and hear an announcement from former Olympic gold medallist Hamish Carter.

The briefing will take place at The Cloud on Monday 31st October at 2pm and will last for approximately 45 minutes, followed by an announcement from 2004 Olympic Games gold medallist Hamish Carter.

The ITU World Cup Triathlon and age group events are scheduled for November 20 in the Auckland CBD, based on the waterfront with The Cloud as hub for all activity. The ITU World Cup races will attract strong international fields and generate widespread international media coverage while the age group sprint and standard distance races sold out some weeks ago.

This is a significant event, one that will have a significant positive impact on the region but one that also has a significant impact on infrastructure with road closures as the waterfront plays host to thousands of triathletes with live television and radio coverage.

The briefing will be led by Event CEO Dave Beeche and will include information on:

· Courses to be used by all events

· Road closures and plans for residents and businesses in the affected areas

· Question and answer session

· An announcement by Hamish Carter, former Olympic gold medallist
