People trapped after head-on smash

State Highway five at Fitzgerald Glade is still blocked as emergency services clear the scene of an earlier crash involving a truck and a tour bus.
At this stage it appears that the trailer unit of a B-train truck and trailer unit rolled and broke loose striking the bus head on.
The tourists were Chinese Nationals. One has been air-lifted to Waikato Hospital suffering moderate to serious injuries; seven others have been taken by ambulance to Rotorua with minor to moderate injuries and approximately ten others are uninjured and awaiting a replacement bus to transport them from the scene. The truck driver was not injured.
Tokoroa-based Serious Crash Police will be conducting the investigation into the cause of the crash.
