INVERCARGILL

At 10 p.m. on Tuesday 1st November 2011 Invercargill Police were involved in the pursuit of a fleeing driver who failed to stop for a marked patrol car on Crinan Street, Invercargill . Police were initially informed of a family violence incident in progress on the street involving the male driver and a female passenger.

After travelling at speeds up to 100 km/hr in the South Invercargill area the fleeing vehicle stopped as a result of landing on the centre island and hitting a light pole. Police were in pursuit and the vehicle was subsequently prevented from driving further.

Both persons in the fleeing vehicle were arrested.

The male driver was disqualified from driving.

No injuries were sustained in the incident by the occupants of the vehicle.
