Colgate-Palmolive is recalling Savacol Antiseptic Mouth and Throat Rinse Alcohol Free (300 mL white bottle only). This product has been sold only through dental surgeries since 2010.
Consistent with our overriding commitment to consumer safety, Colgate-Palmolive has announced that it is recalling its medicinal Chlorhexidine product Savacol Antiseptic Mouth and Throat Rinse Alcohol Free (300 mL white bottle only).
The presence of micro-organisms has been detected in some retained production samples of Savacol Antiseptic Mouth and Throat Rinse Alcohol Free (300 mL white bottle only). These micro-organisms rarely cause infections in healthy people, but under certain circumstances may be harmful to individuals with compromised health. Accordingly, in order to ensure the safety of our consumers, Colgate-Palmolive is conducting the recall.
This recall does not apply to any other Savacol Mouth Rinse products or any other Colgate mouthwash products.
Consumers who have purchased Savacol Antiseptic Mouth and Throat Rinse Alcohol Free (white bottle) should immediately discontinue the use of this product and either call Colgate’s customer service line on 0800 441 740 or email consumers_aunz@colpal.com to arrange return of affected product and a full refund.
This recall is being carried out in consultation with Medsafe, Ministry of Health.
