NORTH SHORE CITY

North Shore Police describe an aggravated robbery that took place in suburban Glenfield early today as “vicious and violent.”

Police say that at about 2.30am this morning, Tuesday 8 November 2011, several masked male offenders forced their way into a house at an address in Kaipatiki Road, Glenfield. One of the offenders was armed with a shotgun. They demanded cash.

A heavily pregnant female spouse was among the three occupants of the house.

The occupants were robbed of cash, cell phone, electronic and personal items before the offenders left the scene in a vehicle earlier reported stolen from Orakei, in Auckland. Police were quickly on the scene and soon after located the stolen vehicle.

One 37 year old male offender was arrested after being tracked by Police Dog Unit. He is appearing in the North Shore District Court today charged with Aggravated Robbery. A search for the other male associates is in progress. No shots were fired and there were no injuries in this incident.

Police say this incident has similarities to an earlier aggravated robbery in Pinehill in October when the occupants of a house were targeted. Anyone with information that will lead to the arrest of the outstanding offenders in this robbery are urged to call North Shore CIB on 09 477 5000 or alternatively call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
