There are two media opportunities available to see the 787 Dreamliner and talk with Boeing and Air New Zealand management following its arrival in Auckland this weekend.

787 arrival Saturday 12 November:

The aircraft is expected to land at approximately 10.00am, followed by interview opportunities with the 787 pilots who flew the aircraft as well as Air New Zealand Chief Pilot Captain David Morgan.
Media will have the opportunity to be beside the runway to film the aircraft’s arrival.

Due to Customs and MAF requirements, the interior of the aircraft will not be available for viewing at this time.

Please be at the security access point at Air New Zealand Technical Operations at the end of Geoffrey Roberts Road by 9:00am so as to be able to clear security and be bussed out onto the runway area.

787 open day for media, 11:00am-12:30pm Monday 14 November:

The aircraft will be parked at Air New Zealand’s Engineering Base at Auckland Airport with the aircraft interior open for viewing including the aircraft’s test equipment. Because this plane is Boeing’s first test aircraft, it does not have a normal airline-style interior.
Mike Sinnett, Boeing VP 787 Chief Project Engineer and Jim Haas, Director of Product Marketing, will be available for interviews.
Please be at the security access point at Air New Zealand Technical Operations at the end of Geoffrey Roberts Road, by 10.40am to clear security.

RSVP requirements by Thursday 10 November

Due to aviation security requirements, the following details for each media representative coming to see the aircraft is required by midday on Thursday 10 November, so as to be able to arrange airside access:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
