Auckland’s 5-star Pullman Hotel has unveiled its new $10,000-a-night Presidential Penthouse.

But even if you can afford the price-tag, Pullman Auckland general manager Rob McIntyre says it doesn’t guarantee your booking will be accepted.

“Because it is one-of-a-kind the Presidential Penthouse needs to be kept available for international celebrities, musicians, the sporting elite, even royal guests who often travel at a moment’s notice.”

McIntyre says a hotel penthouse of Pullman Auckland’s size and stature is a first for New Zealand and puts the hotel a class above its counterparts.

“The Presidential Penthouse is the most exclusive in New Zealand and unlike any other in the country. It has been designed to meet the penthouse standards of our French parent company Accor.

“No expense has been spared in the 286 sq.m. interior space which covers two levels on the top floor of our Residence Tower. The quality of the design and finishing touches is quite exemplary.”

The penthouse commands far-reaching views of the Waitemata Harbour and beyond to the Hauraki Gulf, easily taken in when standing on one of the five balconies covering a total of 110 sq.m.

The first floor includes a separate room which can house personal guards, butlers and staff, or be used as a third bedroom for additional guests. The room has an adjoining entrance to the penthouse and facilities including a fully equipped kitchenette, lounge, balcony and beautiful bathroom facilities.

On the main floor of the penthouse, there is a fully functioning designer kitchen attached to an expansive lounge and dining area with an extravagant Italian marble-top table and designer Swarovski chandeliers. A top of the range DeLonghi Nespresso coffee machine ensures guests can make the perfect cup at any time of day or night.

New Zealand art from Art Associates decorates the room and creates an individual ambience for the space, which McIntyre says can be swapped out depending on décor requirements.

“All guests are important but we pay special attention to those in our penthouse. We want them to feel the facility is their home away from home and to know even their aesthetic requirements will be met,” says McIntyre.

A sweeping carpeted staircase takes guests to a light-filled mezzanine level which opens up to further living areas and two king-size bedrooms.

A formal living area centres on an expansive Italian marble fire place alongside an informal entertainment area, providing the ultimate retreat for guests.

McIntyre says the two suites have breath-taking views of Auckland and have been designed with comfort in mind.

“The beds in the suites are dressed with luxurious bedding with Egyptian cotton sheets of the highest thread count, enveloping guests in pure luxury as they rest and revive,” he says.

Opulent bathrooms feature mirrored television screens above two-person bathtubs and luxurious full-sized Elemis toiletries, also used exclusively by Spa at Pullman.

High-end designer electronics cater to every visual and audio need. Bang & Olufsen stereos, Jacob Jensen phones, seven state-of-the-art LED 3D Samsung televisions with full internet and Skype capabilities, and touch lighting ensure guests have access to the most modern technology.

Full ‘over-and-above’ services are provided by Pullman Auckland for penthouse guests including chauffeur pick up in the Pullman car, exclusive use of an in-house chef, butler and spa therapist, private one-on-one tours of the Auckland Art Gallery after-hours and personal styling sessions with iconic New Zealand fashion label Zambesi.
