NOMINATIONS are about to close for the 2011 Manawatu District Community Honours Awards which recognise significant contributions to the community by individuals or groups.
The awards - to be presented at the council’s final meeting of the year on Thursday, December 15 - were initiated in 1991 and 65 district residents have since been honoured. Nominations for 2011 close on Friday, November 25.
The honours are intended for Manawatu District residents, but in exceptional circumstances the selection committee can make an award to a non-resident if the community service has been carried out in the district.
