Police seek witnesses to a suspicious vehicle fire in St Johns Street, Woolston

Christchurch Police are appealing to anyone who was in the St Johns Street and St Lukes Street area in Woolston in the early hours of Saturday 26 November 2011.

Between 1:00am and 3:00am on Saturday morning a car parked on private property was set alight. The vehicle was parked within a metre of a bedroom where a family was sleeping.

The family was alerted by neighbours who discovered the fire. The fire was extinguished by the Fire service and the vehicle was moderately damaged.

The family was extremely lucky the fire was discovered when it was otherwise it could have resulted in serious injury.

Police are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen any persons or vehicles in this area during this time.
