FEILDING

SPACES on the Feilding Public Library’s three summer reading programmes - "Be a Legend – Read", "SR Plus" and "read+" - have been filled and enrolment waiting lists have already been established.

Children’s Librarian, Jennie Hogan, said the free Eastern and Central Community Trust-sponsored holiday programmes were always popular and staff was looking forward to hosting the youthful readers.

The "Be a Legend – Read" programme is for children aged from three to 10 years who read a book or have one read to them.

“They then come into the library to have a chat about their book with our programme staff and receive a gift,” said Mrs Hogan, “but need to come in four times to complete the programme.”

Year seven and eight intermediate students who enter the "SR Plus" programme get a reading log when they register and for each three book reviews completed can choose a new paperback to keep.

The same applies in the "read+" schedule for high school pupils who can also use their reviewed books for NCEA reading logs.

Those involved are to report to the library from Monday, December 5, with the programmes running through to Thursday, January 19, 2012.
