AUCKLAND

Professor Sir Peter Gluckman, chief science adviser to the Prime Minister, will help kick-start Auckland’s development into a major Asia-Pacific innovation hub when he speaks in Auckland next week.

The event forms part of Auckland Council’s regular Auckland Conversations series, in which leading international academics and thinkers discuss matters of importance to the region.

Event: Professor Sir Peter Gluckman: Innovation Through Science – the Pathway to Economic Prosperity
Date: Monday 5 December, 5-7pm
Venue: Lower NZI Conference Room, Auckland Conventions Centre, Aotea Square, Auckland

After the address, Sir Peter will be guest of honour at a dinner hosted by Mayor Len Brown. Forty innovative business leaders will also attend; they will indentify key themes in Sir Peter’s address and debate how they can be turned into specific actions to lift Auckland’s innovation performance.

Sir Peter is a founding director of the Liggins Institute, where his research has won numerous awards and international recognition in the field of child development. He is renowned for his international advocacy for science and innovation, translating discoveries in biomedical research into long-term health benefits.
