A 29 year old man is in a serious condition in Waikato Hospital after been struck by a vehicle while walking along Forest Road, Mokai, at 9.20pm on Tuesday night.

The investigation is continuing into the circumstances of the crash including the movements of the man leading up to the crash.

Police are appealing for witnesses who travelled along Forest Road on 6 December 2011 between 6am and 9.30pm who witnessed a male walking in the area wearing a dark jacket and carrying a blue style bag.

Police remind people to exercise extreme care when walking in rural areas especially during the hours of darkness.
