Tim Edgell has his fingers crossed for a dry weekend for Round Two of the 2011 BNT NZV8 Championship at Ruapuna, Christchurch this weekend.

The #26 Chesters Ford Falcon was the car to beat in the dry at Pukekohe for Round One of the Championship, topping the time sheets in practice, qualifying and comfortably winning the first race of the weekend.

Tim was more than happy with these results “The car was super quick straight off the truck at Pukekohe, I think even we were a little surprised at how easy the pace came,” said Edgell.

It wasn’t until the weather took a turn for the worse that Edgell on slick tyres, along with Angus Fogg and V8 Supercar star Jason Bargwanna came unstuck; all aquaplaning off the track and into the wall, causing the race to be red flagged.

"I saw Foggy and Bargs go off in front of me, so I backed right off,” says Edgell “but there was just too much standing water and we had no grip whatsoever."

Since Pukekohe the team has worked overtime to repair the extensive damage on the car.

The combined efforts of Judd and Charles Panelbeaters, North Harbour Ford and BNT together with Edgell Automotive has meant the Chesters Ford Falcon is now ready and waiting for what should be a tight fought battle at the technical South Island track.

"Ruapuna's going to be hard fought that's for sure; I’m really thankful to my sponsors for helping us get back on track” says Edgell.

With Bargwanna and Fogg being two of the smartest and quickest drivers in Australasia, Tim knows his work is cut out for him this weekend.

“I don’t think it matters who you are, Bargs and Foggy will be tough to beat. They’re both quality drivers and they’ve definitely stepped things up since last year. They’ll be quick this weekend, let’s just hope we’re quicker!" said Edgell.
