Suspicious Death in Nelson

NELSON

At about 6:06am this morning Police were called to Nelson Hospital to a report that a man had died on arrival at the Emergency Departmant.
The man had been brought to the Emergency Department in a private car and was dead in the back seat. The death is believed to be drug related.
The deceased man is believed to be a 37 year old jeweller who used to live in Auckland but had been residing in Nelson for the last five months. It is believed that his next of kin are in the United Kingdom. Police have not been able to contact relativesor confirm his identity. Police are unable to release his name at this stage.
'We are treating the death as suspicious as the circumstances certainly warrant further investigation'. said Nelson Bays Area Commander Inspector Brian McGurk.
The man who drove the vehicle to the hospital has been arrested for breaching his bail conditions
