Police were advised at 1655 yesterday of four mountain bike riders who had taken to shelter on top of the Crown Range owing to extreme weather conditions. One member of the party was suffering from hypothermia.

A rescue operation involving Police SAR personal and a helicopter located the party and brought them downto safety at Queenstown where they are being checked out by medical personal.
