WELLINGTON CITY

We're providing 200 high-visibility bags, torches and batteries to Wellington City Mission, so Santa will be delivering a safety preparedness message with gifts of food and toys this year.

Information on how to prepare for a disaster will be included with the Christmas parcels.

The City Mission has been working closely with The Breeze and Go Wellington visiting schools, supermarkets and malls throughout the Wellington region and collecting food and new toys for families that might otherwise have a tough Christmas. These will be shared with Mission service users and a wide range of Wellington-based social service agencies.

"We have had a fantastic response to this year's appeal," says Wellington City Missioner Reverend Susan Blaikie.

"The energy and enthusiasm for this annual Christmas event continues to exceed our expectations. The joy of giving is definitely alive and well in our beautiful city!"
