Police and other emergency services are currently at the scene of a rolled truck and trailer unit immediately south of Waiouru.

The driver, who was initially reported to be trapped in the vehicle has been freed and is currently being transported to Whananui hospital by ambulance.

The truck and trailer is fully loaded and the road remains blocked in both directions while equipment is brought in to clear the scene.

Diversions are in place as it likely to be several hours before the road can be cleared and re-opened
