A Grab&Go emergency kit could be just the gift for your family or friends this Christmas.

The kit - designed in conjunction with our Wellington Emergency Management Office (WEMO) - has important items to help you 'get thru', including a dynamo-powered torch and AM / FM radio with siren, a multi-function knife, water purification tablets and a first aid kit.

"It's ideal for home, work or the car and would make an excellent Christmas present," says WEMO manager Fred Mecoy. "We've kept the cost down in order to make it accessible to all Wellingtonians," The price is just $60 (plus delivery) and is available at the Council Service Centre in Wakefield Street or online. Similar kits on the market can cost up to $200.

No emergency kit can provide you with everything you need and Grab&Go was developed with that in mind.

"We can't predict your dietary requirements, shoe size or important medication. Our kit provides you with traditional survival and getaway items but also recommendations to complete your emergency kit and space to accommodate those items. Your preparedness is your responsibility."
