Christchurch - Homicide

Christchurch police have today launched a homicide investigation after 65 year old man was found deceased at a residential address in Goldsmith Place, Christchurch.

Ambulance staff were initially called to the address, where the deceased man lived on his own, before Police commenced an investigation.

Police have subsequently charged a 25 year old man with murder in relation to the death. He will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Monday 9 January 2012.

Police are conducting inquiries at a number of addresses and locations in Christchurch. The man charged and the deceased were known to each other. Police are unable to release any further details about the deceased man at this time.

Police are not seeking the whereabouts of any other person in connection with the investigation.
