Further searching for missing Porirua man, 24 year old Albert Alapati has continued until late this afternoon.

Police Search and Rescue Incident Controller Constable Martyn Bayly says that the Coastguard, Surf Life Saving, Police and LandSAR all had teams searching on and off the water today.

This is a very sad reminder to all water users that all safety precautions need to be taken into account, before heading out on the water.

"These include being prepared and knowing the weather and water conditions first and knowing your physical limits and experience whilst on the water."

Searching will resume tomorrow morning with Land teams, Wellington Police Maritime Unit, Surf Life Saving and also the Police National Dive Squad if sea conditions continue to improve.
