NZ Elite Confirm Entry to NZ Bike Magazine Ruapehu Cycle Classic

Elite riders Roman van Uden and Louis Crosby have confirmed their entries for the NZ Bike Magazine Ruapehu Cycle Classic next month.

Both riders enjoyed a successful 2011 season with the PureBlack Racing pro-team, van Uden winning the sprint jersey at the prestigious Tour of Utah in the United States and Crosby claiming the Young Rider Classification at the Joe Martin Stage Race also in the US.

2012 will be van Uden’s second crack at the NZ Bike Magazine Ruapehu Cycle Classic but for team mate Crosby the three day tour in the Central Plateau will be a new challenge and one which he is intends to face with his characteristic enthusiasm.

The NZ Bike Magazine Ruapehu Cycle Classic weekend tour comprises the Friday night Criterium around the streets of Ohakune; the Ruapehu Cycle Classic (80km or 160km); and the Race to the Sky, a 17km climb from the base of the Ohakune Mountain road to the car park of Turoa ski field. Riders have the option to take on the full weekend tour or to choose from any of the three events. The Ruapehu Cycle Classic and Race to the Sky are open to individual and team riders.

The NZ Bike Magazine Ruapehu Cycle Classic is a part of the BikeNZ Summer Series, bringing New Zealand’s top recreational events together under one umbrella.
