BLENHEIM

Improvements are being made to open up the entrance to the Blenheim Public Library.

The existing raised gardens, which block the library lawn from the pavement, will be removed in the next week or two and more paving laid.

It’s hoped this will provide a more open, light and inviting entrance way into the library for the general public.

Everyone should feel comfortable using all our public spaces around the town so the aim is to create a pleasant area that is open to the street and accessible to everyone.

“The library frontage is a sunny spot and a great place to read quietly or log on to the laptop. We want library users to see it as part of our library facilities rather than as a place for people to congregate noisily,” says District Librarian Glenn Webster.

The raised garden and wall between the library and Hotel D’Urville will remain.
