A Taupo woman was confronted by three armed men in the early hours of this morning (Friday 27/1/12) after she disturbed them breaking into the back of a shop in the Paetiki Shopping Centre in Taupo.

Detective Sergeant Tony Mananui says the 22 year old woman was arriving to start work at one of the shops.

"While parking around the rear of the premises, she disturbed the three men who then confronted her with two pistols and a crowbar. They forced her to the ground and demanded the keys to her vehicle, which they then stole.

"The stolen vehicle was recovered by Police in Terence Street Taupo about 30 minutes later.

"The victim, although not hurt, was shaken by this ordeal and she is recovering at home."

Detective Sergeant Mananui says Police are appealing for members of the public to come forward with any information which might help the Police investigation.

"Police are continuing with enquiries in relation to this incident, but we believe someone will know who is responsible for this attack. We would like to hear from anyone who has information which will lead to the apprehension of these men."
