Homeground Advantage For Beatson

Maurice Beatson made the most of home-ground advantage with an easy win in the horse grand prix at the Dannevirke A&P Show today.

Aboard his lovely big grey Schimmel Warrior, Beatson was three seconds clear of second placed Lucy Akers (Palmerston North) and Cortaflex Tinapai.

Twelve started the class with three going through to the jump-off. Beatson was the only double clear round, with Akers and third-placed Julie Davey (Hastings) on Airhill Myka both picking up four faults.

Emily Fraser (Takapau) took the quinella in the pony grand prix, winning aboard Tony the Pony and finishing second on Tiger Tale LS. She was the only rider to go double clear from the 21 starters.
